Connection system for machine drives - uses braking and support systems for multiple drive units to maintain constant torque

The method of interconnecting groups of machines in series, parallel, parallel/series, or series/parallel, arrangements can be used for mechanical, turbo-mechanical, or electro-mechanical drives, or combinations of these types of drive. The drive units can be gear units, turbo units or generators. The drive connections between them can be supported or unsupported so that torque is transferred between machines and used with auxiliary mechanisms so that braking forces can be applied by using hydraulic, pneumatic or combined control devices. Braking forces can be used to maintain a constant torque between machines. Drive conditions are given for cylindrical gearwheels, bevel wheels and turbo-mechanical drives.
