PURPOSE:To provide a flat spring characteristic including little change of spring force by a method wherein that portion of a dish-shaped annular spring plate for use in the clutch device of automobiles and the like which contacts a conical surface is partly arch-shaped in cross section. CONSTITUTION:A curved Belleville spring 1 consisting of a dish-shaped annular spring plate comprises a spring portion 1a and a plurality of tongue pieces 1b which are separated from each other by slots 1c cut in radial direction form the inside peripher of the spring 1. The spring portion 1a has a curved region which is protuberant outwardly in relation to a control surface taken as a reference. In this case, the radius of curvature is preferably 30-100% of the average radius of the spring portion 1a. In the case where such a curved Belleville spring 1 capable of obtaining a flat spring characteristic with little change in spring force is used for a friction clutch device, the stepping-in force for the clutch pedal at the time of the clutch engaging-disengaging operation is prevented from largely increasing, and the clutch can be lightly operated by a small constant force not so different from that corresponding to the initial set point, even after the friction plate 4 has been worn. |
