PURPOSE:To prevent the breadth of the slab end from being narrowed through the roughing pass, and to greatly improve the product yield, by previously forming the slab end before the edging pass into the wide breadth of specified dimension. CONSTITUTION:The end part 1 (figure A) previously formed into the specified wide breadth of the deformed slab S, is fed into the edger roll (e) being set to the narrow width; at the same time, the excess metal caused by correcting the breadth is swollen up at the side edge in order to form the dog bone 4 (figure B). Though this dog bone 4 is successively formed as far as the middle part 2, the size of the dog bone 4 of the middle part 2 is made smaller than that of the end part 1 (figure C). Next, this broadside rolled slab is flat rolled by the horizontal roll; hereby, only the end part 1 formed into a large dog bone 4 is formed into a little wider breadth (figure D), and then, the slab is formed into sheet possessing the earing 5 at the end part 1 (figure E). Next, this earing 5 is trimmed off to finish the product; hereupon, the extent of the trimming clearance is comparatively so small that the amount of the scrap is very small as compared with the conventional end cutting method. |
