A method and apparatus for hydraulic conveying of slurry containing ore, coal or other such solid materials, the method and apparatus being designed to reduce component wear, comprises filling slurry by a low pressure slurry pump 30 alternately into pressure-relieved pipe chambers 10, 11 and then forcing the slurry by clean water from high pressure pump 20 out of the chambers and into a pipeline 3. During the filling of a chamber, clean water is supplied at the last stage from the slurry pump 30 so that the valves 33, 35 are spanned by clean water before being closed. For this purpose a clean water supply duct 15 is connected to the charging duct 14 ahead of the slurry pump 30 and closure means 31, 32 are arranged in the ducts and are operable in co-ordination. <IMAGE> |
