USE OF SYNTHETIC FIBRES IN THE SEPARATION OF FRUIT JUICES FROM THE SOLID PRODUCTS OF THEIR PROCESSING

Fruit juice is separated from fruit material containing solids in increased yield and quality by adding fibers of an olefin polymer such as polyethylene or polypropylene to the fruit material and separating juice from the mixture of fibers and fruit material. The fibers preferably have a surface area of at least 1 m2/g, a mean length of 0.5-5 mm and a mean diameter of 1 to 500 microns.
