A solution of potassium-38 suitable for use as a radiopharmaceutical and a method for its production. Argon is irradiated with protons having energies above the threshold for the 40Ar(p,3n)38K reaction. The resulting potassium-38 is dissolved in a sterile water and any contaminating chlorine-38 is removed.
