PURPOSE:To minimize the deterioration of a sheet due to oxidation and thus lengthen the life of a storage battery, by sintering a polyvinylchloride-resin powder and forming this into the sheet, and by adhering an oil to the sheet surface. CONSTITUTION:A sheet which is formed by sintering a polyvinylchloride-resin powder is cut into a fixed shape. The sheet is immersed in a mixture liquid of, for example, 6pts.wt. of process oil and 300pts.wt. of n-hexane, before the n-hexane is removed by drying the sheet. Furthermore, the sheet is immersed in, for example, a water solution containing 1% of an anion surface active agent, before the water is removed, this being used for a separator unit. Here, besides process oil, paraffin or asphalt is preferably used as an oil. The solvent of an oil may be, besides n- hexane, toluene or isopropyl alcohol because these are highly volatile and do not dissolve polyvinylchloride resin. Consequently, the oil adhesion enhance the oxidation-resistant property of the separator, the treatment with a surface active agent, despite the oil adhesion, gives the separator an improved ability of absorbing an electrolyte, and thereby the battery life can be increased. |
