A composite label strip(10) comprises a label strip(1) extending in a longitudinal direction and a backing strip(3) that is oriented to extend in the longitudinal direction. The label strip has a plurality of cuts(5,6) therethrough extending from the top side to the under side thereof, and each cut extends transversely of the longitudinal direction of extention of the label strip.
