PURPOSE:To enhance the scratch strength, dimensional stability, flexibility, etc. of a photosensitive material by allowing an oil-in-water type polymer dispersion (latex) obtd. by polymerizing a specified monomer to be contained in a constitutive layer. CONSTITUTION:A monomer represented by formula I (where A is H, 1-5C alkyl or a group of formula II; each of R and R' is H or methyl; R'' is alkyl or aryl; and each of n and m is 1-50 positive integer) is emulsion-polymerized by a known method to form an oil-in-water type dispersion (latex) contg. the polymer with 150,000mol.wt. (Mn) represented by formula III, and the latex is allowed to be contained in a constitutive layer of a photographic material. For example, when the latex is used to form the middle layer, the latex having about 5-60wt% polymer particle concn. is coated onto the photosensitive silver halide emulsion layer. When the latex is applied to the photosensitive layer, silver halide is prepared in the latex. |
