Linkage of control elements in a motor vehicle, e.g. between the pedal operated lever and the control mechanism of a fuel injection pump, is effected by two shafts in journal bearings which are coupled by an axially elastic element with adequate torsional stiffness. This element can be produced from a plane cruciform layer of tissue, embedded in rubber or elastomer, with two opposite arms bent over in opposite directions and fixed by metal clips to the two shaft ends. Alternatively a polyurethane casting can enclose both shaft ends. This keeps all vibrations away from the dashboard, which supports one shaft end, and from the pedal lever.
|
