The turbine has paddles (3) mounted on a rotor (2). It receives fluid from a pipe (4) through an inlet jet (6) where the velocity is increased. The fluid is discharged through a discharge pipe (5). Some of the fluid is taken off through a pipe (7). This fluid is diverted along the pipe to two flows. One flow passes through a valve (10) to a pipe (9) and into the turbine. The second flow passes through an adjustable valve (8) and into the turbine. The valve is operated by a linkage (12,16,17) onto the hose drum (18).
