Portable television reporting camera and video recorder - uses frequency modulators for colour and density signals for separate tape tracks

The portable television camera and video recorder used for reporting purposes, has an optical system with an image tube giving signals corresponding to the light density and also colour signals connected to respective amplifiers. This is used with a twin channel recorder which records the signals as separate diagonal tracks on a recording tape. The two outputs of the amplifiers are passed to respective frequency modulators, each connected to a recording head. The colour characteristic signals are modulated by an auxiliary carrier using quadrature modulation, and the second frequency modulator connected with the camera to apply a colour characteristic signal to the tape in the form of a frequency modulation.
