<p>A piezoelectric accelerometer with a screw fitting (3,5) for attachment to the test object (4) has a rod (2) integral with the fitting. The rod carries a stacked assembly contg. a seismic mass (10), and a piezoelectric disc (7) under a biasing mechanical load. It employs a simple efficient fixing technique enabling one or more piezoelectric discs to have initial biases applied in desired ranges of loading. The bias load is applied by a rivet (12a) in the free end of the axial rod (2). The rivet presses against the seismic mass (10) and piezoelectric disc (7) via one or more elastic intermediate parts (13), consisting of spring discs. The rivet head is laid on the rod end and the riveting tool rapidly rotated so that the longitudinal rivet head axis describes a conical surface whose axis is coaxial with the rod.</p> |
