The cleaning rig is for used X-ray film cassettes and has an entry slot (5) and an exit slot (6) between which the open cassette is passed. Pairs of rollers (9,10,12,13) pass the cassettes between the slots and between rotating cleaning brushes (23). The cleaning brushes are inside a suction duct (19) to take away any loosened dust. The cleaner operates without adjustment and without using any solvents or cleaning fluids. No danger of clogging deposits or damage to the cassette provides a low cost, simle cleaner. The entry section may be used to inject a disinfectant into the supply of cleaning fluid.
