Continuous desalination system - with each unit in series containing dilution and concentration chambers separated by ion exchanger membrane

A continuously operating desalination plant consists of several units in series, each unit with a concentration chamber, separated by an ion exchanger membrane from a dilution chamber. The dilution chamber receives the crude liq. through a pump and its outlet goes back to the pump to form a closed circuit. A side stream of this circuit is passed to the dilution chamber of the next unit. Such a plant is easy to clean out and to service. The chambers are not open to atmos. and cannot therefore be contaminated by any airborne germs when desalinating milk or other food products.
