Micro-manipulator for aligning crystal on microscope stage - holds crystal via rotatable and slidable capillary tubes connected to vacuum source

The micro-manipulator is intended for optically aligning a sample, such as a single crystal or poly-crystalline material, particularly prior to affixing it to a goniometer head. It is placed on the microscope stage and centralised relative to the optical axis. The crystal is placed on a slide (D) and manipulated by means of two capillary tubes (K) which are connected (via valves V) to vacuum. The tubes are 90 deg. offset relative to one another and are axially movable and rotatable. After aligning the crystal, using the (polarising) microscope, the goniometer head is placed in the objective revolver, and the focussing drive used to pick up the crystal on its glass wire with adhesive, whilst observing via optics placed in an opening (0) of the manipulator.
