Circuit setting microwave power fed to radiator - uses variable impedance in resistor sink for mismatching of branch conductor unit

The microwave radiator (21) is connected via a circulator (17) to a magnetron (13) which receives power via a stabilised transformer (10). If the equipment contained no more components the HF power generated would be radiated. The system, however, provides for a mismatchable conductor (19) terminated by a resistor (R). If the variable conductor length is set so that no energy is reflected, all the energy reaches the resistor to be absorbed in that conductor branch. None of the microwave energy is left for the radiator (21). By increasingly mismatching the branch conductor unit (19) an increasing portion of the magnetron power is reflected and that portion becomes available for being radiated in the radiator (21). A wave splitter (22) may pass a small portion of the power reaching the radiator, to an RF meter (27).
