Coating rigid polyurethane foam with unsatd. polyester prepreg - and pressing while heat-hardening to a reinforcing layer

Shaped articles, consisting of a foam core and an external zone-reinforcing coating, are produced by (i) applying an unsatd. polyester pre-preg on at least one side of a heat-deformable rigid polyurethane foam, and (ii) shaping the heated article by pressing while hardening the polyester. The articles are used in the vehicle-, housing-, building- and furniture industries. The foam and pre-preg. can be bonded and shaped in one step, i.e. by pressing. The materials are self-adhesive. Multi-layer articles may be mfd.
