The machine for making bundles of plastics bags having a trapezium shape, suitable for wrapping flowers, forms each bundle of e.g. three stacks, with their edges joined by a narrow bridging piece, ready for tearing off. The machine has two rollers (72,74) between which two plastics webs are drawn ready for welding together. The webs are offset, so that end strips are formed to assist their advance through later stages. The edges are sealed by welding, and selective cuts are made by the welding members. The composite strip is advanced between a short upper conveyor belt (80) and a longer belt (78)underneath, after passing a welding roller (72) which makes the sloping cuts. The composite web is removed from the lower conveyor (78) by a rotor with four gripping arms (120) which deposit the web onto a six sided stacking drum. Perforations are made in the sections so that they will fit onto spikes (192) projecting from the ends of the stacking drum. The sections are removed from the web by a swinging arm (214) above the drum. |
