Exhaust gas reactor for IC engine - has thermal insulator with dielectric properties round combustion chamber

The reactor has a cylindrical aluminium casing (1) inside which there is a stainless steel cylinder (5) forming the body of the combustion chamber. There is an annulus (4) of thermally insulating material between the two cylinders. The insulating material is in the form of a cylinder which is open at both ends and is held tightly to the inside of the outer aluminium cylinder. It is made of a solid dielectric material. The dielectric insulator (4) extends axially over both the primary (7) and the after-burning (8) zones of the reactor. This provides heat conduction back to the primary zone to aid in establishing combustion.
