The system has a manual switch selecting the left and right indicator lamps. The lamps for turning are different from those for overtaking. The difference may lie in colour, in shape, in brightness or in flashing frequency. The different lamps may be separately housed or they may be one composite lamp with different elements. The elements may be actuated to produce a moving spot of light. Various arrangements for sequential actuation may be employed.
