PURPOSE:To prevent an ink jet printer from clogging in the case when it is not in use for a long period of time by a method wherein high-pressure air is fed into an ink chamber to eject and discharge the ink from around an ink jet portion. CONSTITUTION:In the case when a power source is cut off and an ink jet printer is not in use for a long time period, valves 11, 12 are opened, an air pump is operated, and the ink in an outside ink chamber 1 and the ink in an inside ink chamber 5 are jetted out via a nozzle 2 by cooperation of the pressure of pressurized air fed from high-pressure air pipes 9, 10 and the pressure wave created by a piezoelectric element 6. In the case when the idle time is relatively short, only the ink in the outside ink chamber 1 is discharged by using only the pressurized air fed from the high-pressure air pipe 9. |
