Stronger magnetic particles(I) are separated from weaker magnetic particles(II) in a mixture by treating a strong magnetic field traversed by bodies, made of a strongly magnetic material, which form a mass with interstitial pores in all directions through which the mixture flows and particles(I) are retained by the bodies. The bodies are then demagnetised and particles(II) removed outside the magnetic field. The bodies are recirculated through the magnetic field and the mixture is carried through the pores by a fluid. The bodies are balls made of magnetically soft iron. The device consists of an inclined channel through which the mixt. & the balls travel via the magnetic field.
