For ornamenting shoe uppers or other leather goods using designs in the form of ornament film on a support foil, the stamped-out work 1 has its face processed with adhesion promoter. The work 1 is then placed by hand on a running length, moving smoothly or in steps, in the form of a support foil with dry ornamenting film 5. With this support foil the work is moved through a heating and pressing zone 8 and is then taken from the support foil 4 by peeling, e.g. with a peeling knife 9. The heating and pressing may alternatively be effected between rollers; surplus parts of the film adhering to the work after peeling of the support foil are removed by an air blast or brushes 12.
