There is disclosed, as a composition of matter, a new high melting N,N'-terephthaloyl bisphthalimide, a method for its prepn. employing as a solvent a high boiling aromatic or aliphatic-aromatic ether or a mixture of a high boiling aromatic or aliphatic-aromatic ether and a low boiling cyclic or aliphatic ether and the use of said new, high melting N,N'-terephthaloyl bisphthalimide as an ester interlinking agent for polyester.
