The transistorised device is for inverting d.c. to one or more phases of a.c. for the or each phase to be produced there is provided a current transformer primary (4) in an output line (6) of the inverter with a secondary (8, 10) of the current transformer in a base drive circuit (D1, 8;D2, 10) for the inverter. The current transformer is effective to feed a portion of the output current of the inverter back to the base drive circuit in order to provide current for the base drive circuit. Alternatively, the inverter operates in push/pull mode, the current transformers having respective primary windings in the collector circuits of the two transistors, and a secondary winding in the base circuits of the transistors.
