The surgical clip has a hair clip profile with a reverse curved (19,20) hook formation (16) on one leg (12) end. It comprises a flexible blade with a tight inter-leg curve (13), the legs (11,12) subtend an acute angle, and the free end (18) of the straight leg (11) tucks under the return curved end (16) of the other leg. A special pair of scissor tongs may be used to handle and install the clip during surgery, having blades of unequal length. Both tong blades curve toward one another at their extremities, the longer and lower blade including an inboard riser step defining a recess for a clip location.
