发明名称 Speed measurement for molten electroconducting fluid - requires detector comprising ferromagnetic cylinder with protruding diametrically opposed conductors
摘要
The speed and flow of an electrically conducting fluid is measured locally by a detector comprising a ferromagnetic cylinder. This allows fluid at high temperature such as molten metal to be measured. A detector (1) at the end of a rod (2) is plunged into a fluid flow and comprises a small cylindrical rod (3) of ferromagnetic material. This is enclosed by a non-magnetic cover (5). A pair of electrodes (4a,4b) are insulated from the material by a stainless steel sheath (6a,6b) containing compacted magnesia. These are located in diametrically opposite positions to define a transverse axis. The ends of the electrodes are based of insulation to make contact with the fluid. A voltage is generated between these electrodes by the flow and which is proportional to its speed.
