The load is slung from a hook (17) rigidly connected to a frame (10). A series of wires (19) is anchored at each end (11) and pass over a series of n-1 rollers which are fixed (12) and a series of n floating rollers (14abcd). Each floating roller is connected to a cable (16abcd) by a yoke (15abcd). The arrangement can be used where a series of cables are connected to a single electric hoist drum, and is simpler and safer than other arrangements employing springs at equalising yokes.
