<p>The process uses an invertible mould (16) to cast concrete railway sleepers of an approximate hexagonal section. The base mould (16) is mounted on a vibratable elevator table (8) which can tip by pivoting about stub axles (10) guided by vertical grooves (6). The table rises until the mould is penetrated by an upper wall splay form (21), making the descent with the form, and then being filled with concrete from a hopper (26). Sprung (24) pivot bolts (22) support a form (21)-carrier frame (20), being retracted to permit the descent. A similar cycle effects form withdrawal, a temporary light-weight top form is installed, and the table is now tipped to effect striking of the mould.</p> |
