Commissioning seal for outlet of spigot gas supply stop valve - uses trapezoidal section rubber ring seal between metal disc and metal outer ring

The stop valve may control a domestic gas supply, incorporating a pipe spigot for connection to e.g. a meter. The spigot is in two pieces (2,7) connected by an internally flanged (4) nut (5) engaging a shoulder (3) and a barrel thread (6), and a disc seal is clamped between the two annular extremities. The disc may serve as a commissioning seal and can be extracted laterally, comprising a soft e.g. rubber seal (11) interposing a metal ring (10) and a metal centre disc (14). The dia. of disc (14) exceeds the spigot bore and it is demountable, the seal tapering to an increased internal width to provide a disc retaining groove in the invert of a trapezoidal section inner face.
