Cosmids with gene for kanamycin resistance - derived from plasmid and lambda-phage fragments

New cosmids are produced by recombination of (a) a plasmid genome fragment (I) contg. a gene coding for kanamycin resistance and (b) at least part of the DNA fragment obtained by reassociation of lambda-phage cohesive terminal fragments capable of being recognized by the encapsidation systems of the phage. The cosmids are free of the disadvantages associated with similar cosmids labelled with resistance to rifampicin or ampicillin.
