摘要 PURPOSE:To measure the fuel atomization rate at a high accuracy by using air-fuel ratio sensors, which are provided in an intake passage and an exhaust passage. CONSTITUTION:An inclined membrane type oxygen sensor 16 serving as an air-fuel sensor is provided in the vicinity of the central portion, which is on the downstream side of a carburetor 15, of an intake passage 14 extended between a combustion chamber 12 of an internal combustion engine 11 and a clean side of an air cleaner 13. Another inclined membrane type oxygen sensor 18 is provided in an exhaust passage 17 for the engine 11. These sensors 16, 18 are connected to a processor 20. Owing to this arrangement, a liquid fuel does not come into direct contact with the oxygen sensor 16 in the intake passage 14. Outputs from the sensors 16, 18 are subjected to operation in the processor 20. Thus, a fuel atomization rate can be determined immediately on the basis of outputs from the sensors 16, 18 without placing restrictions on the fuel and without using any additives.
