A bag for collecting excreta or fluid seeping from a wound is supported by an ancillary panel stuck to the skin and having an opening for surrounding the hole. The supporting flap may be made of different material from either or both of the sheet materials used for the walls of the bag, pref. is permeable to ventilate the underlying skin. The bag may be detachable from the supporting panel, e.g. by releasing poppers or a sliding fastener. The internal face of the bag is coated with adhesive around an opening slightly larger than that in the supporting panel, to seal against any loss of liquid between panel and bag. The bag may include filters or drains. Use of interchangeable bags allows a large capacity of fluid to be removed without requiring a large supporting patch or frequent disturbance of the patient's skin. No specific materials quoted.
|
