<p>In a process for making injection mouldings from two or more materials, the materials are injected successively after a very brief interval and pressure is applied to distort the liquid interface between adjacent materials. Used esp. for mfg. items having a closed loop profile with one or more segments in each material, or which are overmoulded. The interface distorts preferentially in the centre of the moulding cross-section, to produce a pseudo tongue-and-groove effect which enhances the mechanical strength of the melt joint.</p> |
