Circuit breaker arc chamber - has clearance of arc contact horns greater than spacing of suppressor plates

Rapid displacement of arc root is ensured by the blow loops and insulator plates with assistance of guide sheets (2) exhibiting a spacing of 1 mm. The clearance between the ends of arc guides (5/6) and the sheets (2) is 50% greater. This facilitates the splitting of the arc at the edges while the increased clearance of guides (5/6) provides additional free space without size increase of the circuit breaker. The arc guide (5) forms the fixed contact of the breaker and is connected to trip coil (7). (DS).
