The embossed pref. metal strip (1) is used in furniture construction, taking the form of a chain of chair nail heads (2). It conceals the joints where overlapping upholstery fabric edges are tacked to a timber substructure, and certain links constitute washers (3) which accept and centre a chair nail proper (4). One in five links (3) may be treated this way, having a winged trapezoidal diametric cross section with an axial hole (5) for the nail stem.
