The hydraulic motor or pump comprises a rotor (1) having an even number of peripheral chambers (11) in which flexible vanes (6) are free to slide. The vanes are retained by springs and follow the profile of the stator (2) such that fluid is drawn in through the inlet ports (4) and is compressed in the changers (3) formed between the vanes (6) and the stator (1) to be discharged through the outlet ports (5). The lateral seal is assured by forming the profiled section only in the median part of the stator, the peripheral form being cylindrical outside this.
