Electrolytic treatment of silver concentrates - esp. reduced sludge obtd. in photographic processes, where pure silver is collected on cathode

The powdered concentrate is dissolved chemically in a nitric acid electrolyte in the anode chamber of an electrolysis cell; and pure Ag is deposited on a cathode in a cathode chamber sepd. from chamber by a combined diaphragm made of cotton fabric and a filter paper. The pref. cell includes a graphite anode. The treatment is used esp. for reduced sludge obtd. from photographic processes, so Ag in the sludge can be reclaimed.
