The central heating system for a house and using a heat pump has the main drinking water supply line passing through more than one heat exchanger with selected heat exchangers also connected to the evaporators for the heat pump. The connecting lines and the water supply main are buried underground, and heat is extracted from the water supply and transferred to the evaporators. Heat exchange fins can be mounted on the outside of the heat exchangers, and a circulating pump can be included in the water supply line between the heat exchangers. One of the heat exchangers can be connected to the cooling system for external power plant.
