Air conditioning elements for buildings - using heat storing water channels in metal or plastic panels (BE 9.2.81)

An air conditioning system for a complete building is based on facade elements consisting of metal or plastic panels which are combined with heat storage panels containing channels with circulating water. A portion of this water is stored in a central reservoir in the building from which it is circulated by pumps. The system can be combined with air or water heat exchangers in systems on the heat pump principle, solar heat collectors or other thermal sources. Air ducts can be combined with these panels, with openings for inlet and outlet of air. The panels can be mechanically protected by a sheath of glass fibre reinforced polyester whilst heat loss by conductive bridges is eliminated by hollow neoprene profiles. Such panels can be mass produced, and transported and stored in a small space. Water has a better heat storage capacity than concrete.
