PURPOSE:To provide excellent torque characteristic and efficiency in a total speed range of a variable speed induction motor from a starting point to a maximum rotating speed by rotatably adjusting at least one of a plurality of stators. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of rotor cores 2, 3 are secured to a rotary shaft 4. Stators 25, 31 are provided concentrically at the plurality of cores 2, 3 on the outer peripheries of the cores, and the stator 31 is rotatable. The rotating position of the stator 31 is detected by a rotating position detector at the time of starting its operation, the stator 31 is so rotated by a small-sized motor 35 to an arbitrary position as to set the rotating speed of a starting type to an arbitrary speed in response to the load of the rotor, and a motor 1 is then started. Thus, the start of the motor can be efficiently and smoothly performed together with the reduction in the size of its starter. |
