Use of mixture containing caryophyllene alcohols for augmenting or enhancing the aroma or taste of foodstuffs

Described is the use for augmenting or enhancing the flavor of foodstuffs of a product containing isomers of caryophyllene alcohol and other compounds produced by isomerizing caryophyllene oxide using an aluminum isopropylate catalyst in a toluene solvent at temperatures in the range of from about 100 DEG C. up to about 150 DEG C. and then fractionally distilling the resulting reaction product and isolating certain fractions of the reaction product.
