1353096 Dietary product CARLO ERBA SpA 14 July 1971 [23 July 1970] 33074/71 Heading A2B A dietary product, which may be added to cows milk which has been diluted by one third to two thirds, is prepared by (1) homogenising a mixture comprising, on a dry weight basis, 3-5% of milk serum protein, 4-18% of lipid, 22-32% of sugar, 35-65% of malt dextrins, and up to 3% of minerals, (2) pasteurising the homogenised mixture and (3) concentrating or drying the mixture. The lipid may contain vegetable oil, soy lecithin, or milk fat and preferably contains 2-3% by weight of essential fatty acids. Step (3) is carried out by concentrating to 80-85% of dry matter or spray or vacuum drying. The total carbohydrate content is preferably 74-90%. The product may also contain (per 100 gm.) 1.0-1.4 mg. of vitamin B 6 (e.g. as its hydrochloride), 50-90 mg. of vitamin C, 16-28 mg. of vitamin E (e.g. as its acetate) and 12 mg. of iron and/or 200 mg. of mucoprotein. 5-8 mg. of the product is added to every 100 ml. of diluted milk, resulting in a beverage having 56-77 calories/100 ml. |
