PURPOSE:To improve the output characteristics and respose of an oxygen sensor by making even stabilizer distribution after baking, by baking the body after applying paste, using solid-state electrolyte power differing in stabilizer component ratio, more than once overlapping in manufacture of the oxygen sensor for air-fuel-ratio mesurement, etc. CONSTITUTION:On sintered substrate 1 of alumina, etc., solid electrolyte layer 13 of layers 13a, 13b and 13c in the order of contents of Y2O3 is formed, covering electrode 12, of four kinds of paste obtained by dispersing four kinds of solid electrolyte powder of 88:12, 86:14, 84:16 and 82:18 in ratio of ZrO2 to Y2O3 in an organic solvent. Next, electrode 14 is provided on layer 13. Even if Y2O3 scatters while layer 13 is baked, nearly-even dispersion of Y2O3 is attained on the whole of layer 13. Consequently, layer 13 is excellent oxygen ion conductivity over a range from a low temperature to a high temperature and output characteristics and response can be improved without entailing the generation of a crack, etc. in a baking process. |
