PURPOSE:To stabilize the shelf life and discharge characteristics by employ a positive electrode compound molded by incorporating specific amounts of zinc hydroxide or zinc oxide and water in a powder mixture of manganese dioxide and a conductin agent. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode of a compound composed of a powder mixture of manganese dioxide and a conducting agent such as graphite, 1-5% of zinc hydroxide or zinc oxide on the basis of the weight of manganese dioxide, and a small amount of water is employed. It is desirable that the amount of water is 3- 8wt% of the powder mixture. For example, 2pts.wt. of zinc hydroxide and 4pts.wt. of water are mixed and stirred with a mixture of 80pts.wt. of electrolyte manganese dioxide and 20pts.wt. of graphite, and molded in a positive electrode can. Zinc oxide may be used in the same amount as its alternative zinc hydroxide, but it is desirable to age for one day after preparation. Thus the shelf life and discharge characteristics of the battery can be improved with safe work and no corrosion of the positive electrode can surface. |
