<p>The invention is concerned with a bio-compatible synthetic fiber comprising a polymer having occluded therein a bio-compatible material selected from the group consisting of platelet-aggregation preventing agents, anticoagulant agents and antithrombic agents; the polymer is selected from the group consisting of cellulosic polymers, esterified cellulosic polymers, etherified cellulosic polymers, nitrated cellulosic polymers, the polymers and copolymers of vinylidene chloride, vinyl chloride, vinyl esters, styrene, vinyl butyrate and gamma methylglutamate, the polymers and copolymer? of acrylonitrile, butadiene and isoprene, acrylates and ?ethacrylates, poylethylene, polyamides and polyurethanes. The synthetic fiber of the invention is capable of being introduced into a living organism or inserted into contact with blood, without involving haemorrhage or toxicity hazards.</p> |
