PURPOSE:To charge ink particles securely and deposit the ink onto recording paper correctly by determining the charging timing through selection of a phase waveform suitable for the generation of ink particles, in an ink jet recording method of a charging amount control system. CONSTITUTION:A phase generator 17 generates the phase waveforms which are shifted, for example, by 60 deg. and have the same frequency as that of an electromechanical converter for generating ink particles, and each of the waveforms is used as a charging signal. By impressing on a charging electrode 7 the phase signals generated by the phase generator 17, it is tested whether the ink particles are correctly charged and deflected before they impinge on a target 13. In the case where the ink particle generating position is at V, the ink is charged by signals (000), (001), (010). Through the test by use of the target 13, the phase (001) for which the ink-particle generating timing is closest to the center of the effective waveform is selected and used as a charging signal. |
