The welding fixture for different types of sub-assemblies of automobile bodies consists of a rectangular frame (2) with four uprights (10) supporting two welding electrodes (11). The parts to be welded are assembled on platforms (16a-16c) which can slide axially in blocks (5) fixed to a horizontal shaft (4) which extends on either side of the frame (2). The shaft is rotated to bring the required sub-assembly uppermost and it is then moved out of the blocks (5) onto the table (13) under the electrodes. After welding the sub-assembly is moved axially back to its original position. A second sub-assembly is then moved into position from the opposite end.
