PURPOSE:To place an electromagnetic brake in an electric motor, couple the brake to the motor and shorten axial dimensions, by attaching a brake yoke to a motor casing concentrically therewith and using a bearing housed in th brake yoke to support a motor shaft. CONSTITUTION:A mounting flange 3 is provided on a brake yoke 2 which contains an electromagnetic coil 5 and a friction plate 6. The flange 3 is attached by bolts 4 to a motor casing 1 concentrically therewith. A motor shaft 12 is supported by a bearing 13 placed in the brake yoke 2. A cooling fan 10 is provided outside the supported portion 17 of a brake rotor 9 to introduce cooling air through ventilation holes 16. According to this constitution, axial dimensions are greatly shortened and an occupied area is reduced in comparison with a case that a brake flange is attached to the conventional bracket of an electric motor. As a result, a cooling air passage is shortened to heighten a cooling effect. |
